Masmindo Expands Nutritious Lunch Program to Six Schools in Latimojong, Enhances Capacity of Healthy Kitchen Managers

PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA) continues its commitment to supporting community development through a capacity-building program for nutritious kitchen managers. This initiative follows the successful trial of the Nutritious Lunch Program (MaGiz) previously implemented in two pilot schools—SDN 662 Salubulo and SDN 43 Ranteballa, Latimojong Sub-district, Luwu Regency—in February.

The training is designed to equip kitchen staff with practical knowledge and skills in managing nutritious kitchens that are clean, hygienic, effective, and efficient. Moving forward, it is expected that all nutritious kitchens will obtain the Hygiene and Sanitation Eligibility Certificate (SLHS). The training materials were delivered by experts in their fields, including Abdul Aziz, Head of the Indonesian Nutritionist Association (PERSAGI) in Luwu, and nutritionists Hardianti and Riska Ramadhani.

The topics covered included principles of balanced nutrition for school children, financial and logistics management, culinary practices (food handling), as well as hygiene and sanitation standards to ensure food quality and safety.

Abdul Aziz, Head of PERSAGI Luwu, stated, “The issue of nutritious meals is not just about feeding children, but it is a long-term investment in the growth and intelligence of future generations.”

The success of the trial phase, marked by the high enthusiasm of students, teachers, and parents, has provided MDA with a strong foundation to expand the program’s scope. Going forward, MDA will fully implement the MaGiz program in six elementary schools across Latimojong Sub-district: SDN 662 Salubulo, SDN 43 Rante Balla, SDN 41 Boneposi, SDN 230 Ulusalu, SDN 643 Gamaru, and SDN 476 Makalua.

This program is not merely a social activity or part of the company’s Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) budget allocation, but also a corporate commitment to supporting government initiatives, aligning with the goal of creating a smart golden generation, and reinforcing the role of business in social development.

Moreover, the program is designed with a sustainable approach that generates a multiplier effect. In addition to ensuring adequate nutrition for school children to prevent stunting and improve concentration, the program is also expected to contribute positively to local economic growth, strengthen food security, increase household income, and enhance tax revenues.

This is achieved by prioritizing the use and purchase of local food supplies such as vegetables, eggs, and other nutritious ingredients sourced directly from farmers and livestock breeders around the company’s operational area.

“Through this program, we not only want to see children grow healthy and smart, but also to stimulate the local economy in our operational areas. We hope this program can serve as a foundation for building food self-sufficiency, creating a culture of nutrition awareness in the community, empowering local businesses, and encouraging the utilization of idle land for productive farming,” explained Dea Maulana Yusuf, MDA’s Manager of Community Development and Empowerment.

With this program expansion, MDA hopes to deliver tangible and sustainable contributions to improving the quality of life in Latimojong Sub-district, in line with the company’s vision to be a responsible mining company that is well-accepted by all stakeholders.
