Village Forum Realizes Aspirations of 21 Villages in Operational Area, Luwu Regency Government and MDA Implement Work Programs

Luwu – A series of Village Forums previously held across 21 villages in four sub-districts has now entered the program implementation stage. Community aspirations gathered through field visits and direct meetings have been mapped and aligned between the Luwu Regency Government and PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA), and are now being followed up through assistance and development programs.

Through the Village Forum Gathering, several initiatives were officially handed over as part of the follow-up to the forum discussions. These include the relocation of the intake and transmission pipeline of Perumda Tirta Latimojong, a collaborative program between the Luwu Regency Government, the River Basin Authority (BBWS), and MDA. This initiative is expected to strengthen the clean water supply system for communities in the Latimojong area up to Belopa and its surrounding regions.

In addition, clean water pipeline installation for more than 100 households in Rante Balla Village was also handed over as part of a collaboration between Kodim 1403/Palopo and MDA. Other initiatives include the GenMAS Scholarship for outstanding students and support programs for 21 villages within MDA’s operational area.

The event, held at the Official Residence of the Regent of Luwu, was attended by village heads and sub-district heads from the 21 villages within MDA’s operational area as the main participants of the Village Forum.

Also present were MDA President Director Trisakti Simorangkir along with the company’s board of directors and management team. From the regional government, attendees included the Regent and Vice Regent of Luwu, the Luwu Police Chief, the Commander of Kodim 1403/Palopo, the Head of the Luwu District Attorney’s Office, the Chairperson of the Luwu Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), the Regional Secretary of Luwu, and representatives from related Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD).

Luwu Regent H. Patahudding stated that the Village Forum serves as part of a development approach based on the real needs of the community.

“We want to ensure that every development step has a clear foundation. The aspirations conveyed in the Village Forum are collected, mapped, and then aligned with the regional development direction. The programs realized today are a follow-up to that process,” he said.

He added that the synergy between the regional government and the private sector strengthens the region’s capacity to maintain sustainable development. Therefore, H. Patahudding invited the community to jointly support and safeguard investment continuity in the Luwu region.

Chairman of the Luwu DPRD, Ahmad Gazali, stated that the regional legislature plays a facilitative role in addressing social issues involving both communities and companies.

“The Luwu DPRD carries out a facilitation function in resolving social issues involving the community and the company. This is part of our support to ensure that investment in Luwu Regency can run well and bring benefits to the community,” he said.

Meanwhile, members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) who attended also conveyed their commitment to maintaining a conducive situation. The Luwu Police Chief and the Commander of Kodim 1403/Palopo emphasized their institutions’ readiness to safeguard regional stability in accordance with their duties and functions, ensuring that development and investment programs can proceed safely and orderly.

MDA President Director Trisakti Simorangkir emphasized that the partnership with the Luwu Regency Government reflects the company’s long-term investment commitment in the region.

“We are present in Luwu with a commitment to grow together. The investment we carry out must move in harmony with the needs of the community and the direction of regional development,” he said.

Trisakti hopes that all stakeholders will continue to support and safeguard the investment so that it can run well and contribute even more significantly to the region, both economically, socially, and in terms of community development.

He also conveyed that the company’s commitment is realized through its Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM), which is designed with a long-term approach.

“The PPM programs we implement are not designed only for the coming year, but have been structured within a five-year framework so that the benefits can be felt more consistently by the community,” he explained.

The Village Forum will continue as a platform for communication and joint evaluation, ensuring that development across the four sub-districts and 21 villages within the operational area proceeds in line with community priorities and the region’s development direction.
