PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA), in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at Universitas Andi Djemma (Unanda), held a Human Rights (HAM) Training Program for its security personnel. Commencing on August 9, 2026, and conducted in three batches, the training aimed to strengthen security personnel’s understanding of how to carry out their duties professionally and proportionally while continuing to respect the rights and dignity of every individual.

The training featured Saurlin P. Siagian, S.Sos., M.A., Commissioner for Monitoring and Investigation at the National Human Rights Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (Komnas HAM RI), as one of the main speakers, alongside Dr. Abdul Rahman Nur, S.H., M.H., Vice Rector IV of Unanda. The training materials covered the application of human rights principles in security functions, conflict prevention and management, as well as the protection of women, children, and vulnerable groups.

From MDA’s management, Commissioner Prof. Dr. Dhaniswara K. Harjono, S.H., M.H., MBA., CPCD., and President Director Trisakti Simorangkir also participated in the training virtually and delivered remarks to the participants.

MDA President Director Trisakti Simorangkir said that security personnel play an important role as they are among the company representatives who interact directly with employees and the surrounding community. Therefore, the ability to perform security functions must go hand in hand with appropriate communication and conduct in the field.

“How we communicate, take action, resolve situations, and treat every individual must always uphold respect for human rights, professionalism, and proportionality. These principles must be reflected in our daily work and aligned with the MATAPPA values,” said Trisakti.

In his presentation, Saurlin P. Siagian, S.Sos., M.A., emphasized that an understanding of human rights is directly related to operational activities, including the implementation of security functions. Various decisions and actions in the field need to take into account respect for the rights of all parties, ensuring that security duties can continue to be carried out effectively and in a measured manner.

Meanwhile, Dr. Abdul Rahman Nur highlighted the importance of incorporating a human rights perspective from the outset into decision-making and the management of potential issues in the field. According to him, this approach provides greater opportunities for preventive measures before an issue develops into a conflict.

“Human rights should not only be discussed after a conflict occurs. Human rights principles must be part of the company’s decision-making processes and operations from the outset,” said Abdul Rahman.

For MDA, the training is increasingly relevant as the company’s activities enter the construction phase, which has also increased the intensity of interaction among workers, contractors, communities, and various stakeholders around the company’s operations. Amid communities with diverse values, cultures, and local wisdom, security personnel are expected to carry out their duties while upholding professionalism and mutual respect.

Through its collaboration with Unanda and the involvement of practitioners and academics, MDA continues to promote the strengthening of human resource capacity and quality in the field alongside the growth of the company’s activities.
