PT Masmindo Dwi Area Supports Disaster Response in Barru Regency

Barru, December 28, 2024 – The flood and landslide disaster that struck Barru Regency has significantly impacted the local community. The Barru Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that a total of 11,026 households were affected by this disaster. This situation demands attention and support from various parties to alleviate the burden on the affected communities.

Under the umbrella of ESDM Disaster Response, PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA) collaborated with BPBD Barru to provide various forms of assistance to the affected residents. H. Umar Sinampe, S.Km., M.Kes., Head of BPBD Barru, emphasized the importance of collaboration in disaster management. “Partnerships with various stakeholders, including MDA, are key to the success of disaster response efforts. With the support provided, we can reach more affected communities and deliver aid effectively,” he said.

In Lipukasi Village, one of the affected areas, MDA and BPBD Barru conducted disaster impact assessments to identify the community's priority needs. Additionally, logistical aid was distributed to local residents. Awaluddin, S.E., M.M., Head of Lipukasi Village, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We greatly appreciate MDA’s swift response in providing assistance to our community. Masmindo’s support has been incredibly helpful, especially in meeting urgent needs such as logistics and healthcare services.”

Beyond logistical aid, MDA also participated in organizing free medical treatment in Lipukasi Village. This service was aimed at ensuring access to healthcare for those in the disaster-stricken area. Trauma healing activities were also carried out to help affected children resume their normal activities. Mustofa Ibrahim, Head of Mining Engineering at MDA, added, “This disaster is a challenge for all of us, and MDA feels compelled to contribute its best efforts. We believe that through collaboration, recovery efforts can proceed more swiftly and have a tangible positive impact on the affected communities.”

This emergency response initiative is part of a collaborative effort involving multiple parties to meet the needs of the affected population. To date, MDA continues to coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure the smooth distribution of logistical aid and healthcare services.***
