PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA), in collaboration with the Luwu Regency Government, officially inaugurated and handed over two permanent bridge assets located in Kadundung Village and To’Baru Village, Latimojong District. Initially built to support operations of the Awak Mas Project, the bridges are now formally designated as public infrastructure owned by the Luwu Regency Government for full use by the local community.
The inauguration and handover ceremony was symbolically led by the Regent of Luwu, H. Patahudding, S.Ag., and MDA President Director, Trisakti Simorangkir, and was witnessed by representatives from regional government agencies (OPD), traditional leaders, village officials, and local residents. This moment marks MDA's commitment to act not only as a business entity but also as a strategic partner of the local government in rural infrastructure development.
In 2024, the Latimojong area was severely affected by flooding and landslides, which washed away the connecting bridge in Kadundung Village. Recognizing the urgency of restoring infrastructure, MDA took the initiative to rebuild the bridge with a more robust and functional structure. Besides serving as a vital logistics route for the company’s operations, the bridge also plays a crucial role in supporting the social and economic activities of the local population.
“Today, we are not just inaugurating a bridge; we are officially receiving this valuable asset for the people of Luwu Regency. We thank MDA for its contribution. This is a concrete example of how the private sector can actively collaborate in regional development,” said Regent H. Patahudding, S.Ag., in his remarks.
MDA President Director, Trisakti Simorangkir, emphasized that the asset handover reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. “The Kadundung and To’Baru bridges were initially built to support project logistics. However, from the start, we recognized the importance of ensuring that this infrastructure would directly benefit the local community. Today, we officially hand them over as regional assets that will support daily public activities,” he stated.
Both bridges now serve as critical connectors between villages and sub-districts. They are vital for distributing agricultural products, accessing education and healthcare services, and boosting local economic activity. With this handover, MDA reaffirms that the presence of the mining industry must align with inclusive and sustainable social development.
This step further solidifies MDA’s position as a company that upholds the principles of good mining practices, while also supporting the Luwu Regency Government in strengthening connectivity among communities in the Latimojong area.
