PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA) Signs Memorandum of Understanding with South Sulawesi Regional Police to Strengthen Security and Law Enforcement

PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the South Sulawesi Regional Police (POLDA Sulsel) to enhance security and law enforcement within MDA's operational areas as a Designated Vital Object.

The signing ceremony was officiated by South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Yudhiawan, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., M.Si., and MDA President Director Trisakti Simorangkir, witnessed by South Sulawesi Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Nasri S.I.K., M.H., POLDA Sulsel's Inspector General of Supervision Commissioner Ai Afriandi, S.H., S.I.K., M.M., key officials from POLDA Sulsel, and PT Indika Energy Tbk's Director of Corporate Services and External Relations, Johanes Ispunarwan.

The MoU focuses on two main aspects: improving security coordination and integrated law enforcement to safeguard all assets, construction activities, production operations, and the distribution of MDA's mining products.

In his remarks, MDA President Director Trisakti Simorangkir expressed his hopes that the MoU would foster a more conducive security and public order environment in the company’s operational areas. "Through this collaboration, we believe the stability of security and public order in MDA’s operational areas can be well-managed. This will not only positively impact the company but also benefit the community and the investment climate in South Sulawesi," said Trisakti.

On the same occasion, Johanes Ispunarwan stated that Indika Energy, as MDA's parent company, highly appreciates the support from POLDA Sulsel and the police at the district and sector levels. He emphasized that this effort represents a tangible form of synergy between the police and the company to ensure the successful realization of investments as expected by the government while maximizing benefits for the community and the nation.

"We believe the collaboration established today will serve as a vital foundation for creating a better future. MDA's presence in South Sulawesi is not only about fulfilling the mandate of the Contract of Work to manage mineral resources but also about contributing to regional development and improving community welfare, particularly in Latimojong Subdistrict, Luwu Regency," Johanes explained.

Meanwhile, South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Yudhiawan committed to ensuring the security and smooth operations of MDA as a Designated Vital Object. He stated that MDA’s interests, the government’s objectives, and the community’s welfare would be aligned. The Police Chief acknowledged existing reports regarding issues in MDA's Contract of Work area and assured attention from relevant stakeholders. He emphasized MDA's approach of seeking a win-win solution while adhering to prevailing regulations. "If any parties violate the rules or attempt to exploit the situation for personal or group gain, they must be addressed, corrected, and firmly sanctioned," said the Police Chief.

He further highlighted the importance of resolving issues solely with relevant stakeholders and warned against involving unrelated parties. "It’s better to meet, sit together, and avoid involving those who have no stake in the matter. This could lead to complications," he noted.

The Police Chief welcomed the collaboration with MDA, emphasizing its significance. According to him, the smooth operation of MDA’s production activities will contribute to state revenues through taxes generated from mining. "This will positively impact the development of Indonesia’s economy," he concluded.***
