MDA Welcomes Efforts to Restore Road Access for the Benefit of the Community and the Continuity of Economic Activities

PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA) expresses its appreciation to all parties, particularly the Luwu Regency Government, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Luwu Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), security personnel, community leaders, traditional leaders, and all members of the community who have prioritized dialogue and peaceful approaches in efforts to reopen the road access that has been obstructed.

Since the Public Hearing (RDPU) held by Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on October 8, 2026, various efforts have been undertaken by stakeholders to seek solutions that prioritize legal certainty, public order, and the broader interests of the community. MDA respects all ongoing processes and supports resolution efforts carried out constitutionally and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

MDA also welcomes the outcome of the Hearing (RDP) held by Commission I of the Luwu Regency DPRD on Friday, October 16, 2026, which recommended the restoration of road access through a persuasive approach and in accordance with applicable laws, while continuing to respect the ongoing land dispute resolution process.

MDA Director Erlangga Gaffar explained that restoring road access is an important step toward restoring community mobility and ensuring the distribution of essential goods, fuel, logistics, public services, and economic activities that have been affected.

“The road access also serves as a vital route for community activities and various business operators who are not directly involved in the substance of the dispute currently being addressed,” he said.

MDA emphasizes that the company respects every party's right to seek justice through the applicable legal mechanisms. Therefore, the ongoing dispute should be resolved through objective, transparent, and fair legal forums and processes, without compromising the rights of other community members to work, conduct business, and earn a decent livelihood.

The company understands that the situation has affected workers, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), transportation service providers, local suppliers, and families whose livelihoods depend on economic activities in the area. Accordingly, MDA, together with its contractors, will continue to implement mitigation measures to minimize the impact on workers and the continuity of local businesses.

MDA also calls on all parties to maintain regional stability, refrain from provocative actions and intimidation, and avoid spreading information that could lead to misunderstandings or horizontal conflicts. Differences of opinion arising from a dispute should be resolved through dialogue and available legal mechanisms, while upholding the values of solidarity, brotherhood, and local wisdom within the Luwu community.

Moving forward, MDA stands ready to participate in any coordination forums facilitated by the government and relevant stakeholders to support a fair and measured resolution that provides certainty for all parties.
