PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA) once again demonstrates its commitment to environmental preservation through a tree-planting activity at the Suso Watershed (DAS Suso), in collaboration with the local community and the Latimojong Student Association (HIPMAL) in Tolajuk and Boneposi villages, as part of a soil and water conservation initiative.
This activity is a continuation of the Earth Day celebration and part of the lead-up to World Environment Day on June 5th, as a sustained effort to maintain ecosystem balance.
The Latimojong Sub-district Head, Nur Agam, expressed appreciation to MDA and HIPMAL for their collaboration in environmental preservation, particularly in the Latimojong Sub-district.
“Of course, we as the local government fully support this kind of collaboration, especially since Latimojong is a disaster-prone area. Today’s tree-planting activity at the Suso Watershed is an important step in disaster prevention,” he said.
HIPMAL Chairperson Muh Fatur added, “We extend our thanks to MDA for its concern in preserving the environment of our hometown. We hope this activity involving students can continue in a sustainable manner.”
Hundreds of seedlings, including Lamtoro, Jackfruit, and Cempedak trees, were planted along the Suso Watershed. Lamtoro trees are pioneer species planted on landslide-affected areas, while the other two fruit-bearing trees have deep roots and produce consumable fruits.
MDA believes that collaboration with various stakeholders is key to creating a positive impact on the environment.
This tree-planting activity is not just about planting trees, but also a form of MDA’s responsibility toward ecosystems and future generations.
