In response to the news circulating in the mass media linking a cooperation plan between PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA) and Freeport-McMoRan, we feel the need to correct this information.

It should be emphasized that MDA does not have any form of cooperation or cooperation plan with Freeport-McMoRan. MDA is a national company with all of its shares owned by an Indonesian corporation, namely PT Indika Energy Tbk.

In developing the Awak Mas project, MDA collaborates with two main partners, namely PT Petrosea Tbk and PT Macmahon Indonesia, which have actively involved various local companies and entrepreneurs to support project operations. Some of these local partners include PT Puma Jaya Utama, PT Alonzo Trimulya, PT Piranti Jagad Raya, PT Oumar Dwi Selaras, CV Belia Persada, PT Belopa Trans Utama and others, which are empowered through partnership schemes in various business fields.

MDA Mining Engineering Chief, Mustafa Ibrahim, stated, “The management of the Awak Mas Project is carried out entirely by MDA, national and regional partners. We are committed to carrying out all operational activities by prioritizing the principles of sustainability, safety, and empowering local communities, by ensuring that all processes are carried out in accordance with regulations in the mining industry.”

Since the early stages of the project, MDA has actively involved local communities, not only through business partnerships but also through community empowerment programs, including the formation of cooperatives, training, and support for village economic development. Even though we have not yet entered the production stage, interaction and collaboration with the community have become part of our daily operations. Of course, this involvement will be further strengthened as production activities progress in the future.
