Belopa, May 10, 2024 - The 9 heavy equipment units deployed by PT Masmindo Dwi Area (MDA) have succeeded in opening several roads that were closed due to landslides. The road from Ranteballa Village to Kadundung Village, the main route for distributing aid, is now accessible again for four-wheeled vehicles. This effort by MDA has been appreciated by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
In an evaluation meeting on disaster response at the Main Post of Andi Djemma Field Tribune, Belopa, on Thursday (9/5), BNPB Director of Emergency Resource Support, Agus Riyanto, expressed his hope that MDA could continue to optimize its heavy equipment units to open closed roads so that they can be used for aid distribution. "All parties must work together to overcome the disaster in Luwu, and we appreciate what PT MDA has done," he said.
In addition, MDA has also succeeded in opening access roads to Tabang Village and Boneposi Village towards Ulusalu Village. The route connecting these three villages can only be reached by using two-wheeled vehicles. MDA is also continuing its efforts to ensure that these roads can be passed by four-wheeled vehicles as soon as possible to facilitate the distribution of aid and mobility of people between villages in Latimojong.
Head of Mining Engineering (KTT) MDA Mustafa Ibrahim said that opening access roads is one of the Company's efforts to help smooth the distribution of logistics and the mobility of people in the villages affected by the disaster. "MDA has also allocated 5 light vehicles to support the distribution of logistics and transportation of medical personnel from the Belopa Main Post to the Kadundung Post and other villages. Several light vehicles are also used at the MDA Camp location to support the distribution of logistics around the Company's location.
In addition to helping open land routes, MDA also provides a helicopter landing pad (helipad) at the MDA camp location to facilitate the distribution of aid and logistics.
MDA will continue to communicate and coordinate with all parties under the direction of the Luwu Regency Government. "We are sure that good cooperation between all parties is the main factor for the success of disaster response," he said. (YP)***
